Post #1 – Preparing to Babysit with Emergency Checklist
HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT: OMG!!! You won’t believe it! I just launched my FREE 6 Days To Being The Best Babysitter On The Block Email Course! It goes through everything and anything you NEED to know about babysitting with tons of tips & tricks, not to mention 2 FREEBIES!!! Sign up here!
Step One: First Aid Kit
The first and most important thing I recommend you have in your bag is a first aid kit. Don’t worry if you don’t have one, you can get them at Walmart, or Target.
First aid kits can be so extremely handy if there is every any accident and then you don’t have to go through someone’s house looking for their first aid supplies. Some things you want in a basic first aid kit is: band-aids, gauze, rolled bandages, alcohol cleansing wipes, tweezers, thermometer, Polysporin, flashlight etc.
Best Babysitter Tip: Throw in some colorful bandages with cartoon characters! You never know, it may help them feel a liiiitle better.
Step Two: Personal Items
This one is pretty obvious, but you can’t forget your own items. I recommend bringing a water bottle and a couple little snacks you can keep in your bag. If you forget to ask if you are allowed to eat their snacks, having your own as a backup never hurts. Also, your phone is a pretty basic one but it is definitely important if you ever need to call someone. If you are babysitting while the kids are sleeping, you will want to make sure you have something to do, I will usually bring homework or a book with me. Last but not least, if you are babysitting a baby you definitely want a spare, clean t-shirt in your bag. My babysitting course book recommends this and I thought it was seriously genius! (Ps. If you took a babysitting course, bring your book with you, there is tons of information on what to do in emergency situations and diagrams how to do CPR if you forget)

Step Three: Toys!
Whatever toys you bring, that aren’t the kid’s toys, will be like gold, trust me. Any toy that is new, is exciting. A quick way to be the best babysitter on the block is to bring toys with you! Board games, coloring books, craft supplies, books, puzzles etc. are all great choices. I used to babysit a little boy who loooooved cars, so one day I brought some of my brother’s cars and he loved it!

Step Four: Emergency Numbers
In my last Babysitting 101 post, I covered how to prepare for babysitting, and I gave you guys a FREE babysitting checklist. The checklist included instructions, allergies, child’s names, emergency numbers, etc. So If you haven’t gotten that checklist yet, you can read that post here. Anyway, you definitely want to bring that checklist with you so you have all that information accessible, trust me, it’s very helpful AND important!
Okay, so I’ve covered a LOT of stuff, and I don’t want you to miss anything when you go to babysit. So what did I do? Created a Babysitter’s Kit Checklist, of course! All you have to do is click the image below and subscribe to receive the Checklist straight to your inbox!
